Roncesvalles, Day 1

We bade fairwell to Alcalá de Henares and made our way to Roncesvalles. We made arrangements to have some drivers take us to the Cross of Thibault. The trip took us into France just south of San Jean Pied de Port in the high Pyrennes. What we found was the most amazing vistas (see below).



The Camino took us past herds of sheep quietly grazing on the mountain sides...


We walked along steep, rocky trails as well as leaf-strewn paths; through beautiful forests...






It was indeed a beautiful and peaceful beginning to our adventure. Tomorrow we rest (Sunday) and start out nice and early on Monday on our road to Santiago de Compostela.
