So what can I say about one of the ugliest walking days ever. We spent most of our time walking out of León through its suburbs and commercial areas and then along a highway with cars and trucks rushing past us. Our hotel was on the edge of the small town of Villadango near a couple of truck stops. The owner of the hotel then had me put one some sketchy St. James pilgrim garb while one of the students read aloud an old Galician chant that chases evil spirits away and protects travelers (too weird; I immediately went back to my room and showered and washed my clothes; I was itchy!!). I tried hard to find some nice things to photograph. Here are my attempts:

Storks are a protected bird in Spain. They mate for life and return each year to the same nest. Some of these nests can weigh as much as one ton.
